Born in Hamburg, Germany, my original career path took me to the Hotel Atlantic, Kempinski, where I completed a culinary apprenticeship which was then followed by acquiring a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management at the Conrad N. Hilton College at the University of Houston. Working with Coastal Hotel Group in Chicago, I was mentored through several hospitality positions, from Food and Beverage Cost Control, Purchasing, Accounting to Director of Food and Beverage. Throughout that time, I developed a passion for technology and used my analytical skills to learn as much as I could about hospitality systems and applied that knowledge to any position I held.
While at the Omni Severin Hotel, Indianapolis, I was recognized by the corporate office and started to work on technology projects at other Omni Hotel properties. When the Omni Berkshire, New York was renovated, and an opening as Systems Manager became available, I was able to transfer to that position and start my path in Information Technology.
Throughout my career, I was responsible for support and development of all Hospitality applications, including PMS, POS, Retail, Parking, Spa, Guest response system and lock system, to name a view. I partnered with hotel leadership in implementing the technology roadmap, participated in openings, conversions, development, creation, and support of systems lab, designed, and communicating technology standards, and being a liaison with Hotel Operations and vendors. Several engagements were with Steven Heselius, as we work great as a team.
Before joining TAPS, I was the VP of IT for the St. Joe Company, which owns and operates hotels, restaurants, commercial and residential real estate, and several other entities in various industries.

From a young age, Maria has been passionate about two things: technology and innovation.
